I see a future of war
and evil intent,
poverty, famine
and dark discontent.
A world descended
into desolate gloom,
all joy and laughter
ushered out of the room.
I see helpless children
on war-torn streets,
tattered; just rags,
standing cold, in bare feet.
Shattered, bedraggled
a fearful frieze,
like leaves of loss
blown about by a breeze.
I see mothers crying
tears of despair,
holding lifeless bodies
and beseeching the air.
Men, bent and broken,
dejected, defiled,
with blank staring faces,
just waiting to die.
All hearts and humanity,
all pride and joy,
just battered; discarded
like yesterday's toys.
There's a question screaming
from the deepest despair...
"Why did we ever
let it go this far?"

“Why did we ever let it go this far?”
It should be an anthem inside humanity.
Great words, Darren.
