Falling into
the dark icy deep,
engulfed in the bosom
of a cold crushing sleep.
Wrapped up so tight
within a trembling embrace,
a chilling kiss
on your startled face.
The light from above
fades slowly from view
as the writhing waters
welcome you...
to their icy womb;
such a desolate tomb.
And as colour fades,
the dark grows so deep,
as you silently slip
into a long somber sleep.
Leaving behind you
a life and a love,
a realisation
of loss up above.
To fight is now futile,
for there is no release.
To accept; to welcome;
embrace the long peace.
A shuddering panic
as death fills your core,
then surrender yourself
to this cold hearted whore.
And the seas roll on
in their solemn advance,
welcoming all
who dare take the chance.
Its cruel icy depths
are awash with lost souls,
resting,
eternal,
the buoys bell now tolls.
