AN ODE, TO ‘BIG B’ AND ‘LITTLE T’

The endless miles apart,

cannot still their beating hearts.

The power of their newfound love,

carried forth on the wings of a dove.

Their smiles, when together,

tell a tale of their own.

Carefree and contented,

together they have grown.

The trials and tribulations

of their journey travelled, past.

The epic is now written;

book two is here at last!

Her waiting days are gone,

the distant echo of a starting gun

and no longer just a hiker,

for she has her trusty biker.

Riding off into the sunset

with the wild wind in their hair

and in the world they leave behind,

no more tears and not a care.

Joyful smiles abound them,

along their wondrous ways.

A long sought after eternity,

of life and loving days.

Nice to read your older poetry, Darren. You were quite the romantic. I almost get a feeling like there’s a double meaning in this one with the words, “in the world they leave behind.” ❤

    1. It was written for and about a pair of good friends, Olga, who I’m glad to say are still traveling their happy road together. 🙃🙂

Entering a new phase of life? Interested in revisiting and editing old writing … or just throwing it out there without changing a thing. It’s a 50/50 shot with poetry. I tend to revisit and edit like crazy…I’m getting pickier and better, I hope, as time goes by. You are definitely a writer deluxe, Darren. Thank you for revisiting and letting us share.

    1. Thanks Sharon. I’m revisiting and, in most cases, revising every poem I have ever written, for my new collection. The complete, illustrated works of me in a single book. Should be ready by end Nov.
